JohnsonDiversey recognizes International Infection Prevention Week with release of new Norovirus Infection Control Kit

STURTEVANT, WI - October 23, 2008 - JohnsonDiversey today introduced a new, comprehensive norovirus infection control kit in recognition of International Infection Prevention Week, October 19-25.

The kit, designed for the company's distributor partners, includes a training CD, fact sheets, product selection guide, e-mail templates and sample flyers.

"Norovirus is a fast-moving infection that can linger and threaten human health and facility productivity for weeks," said JohnsonDiversey Vice President of North American Marketing Donna Santoro. "Prevention and fast response is necessary to avoid major risks."

When the MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) outbreaks occurred in the U.S. in 2007, JohnsonDiversey created a response kit to assist employees, distributor partners and customers in battling the infection, Santoro said.

"Building on our MRSA response, we have created the norovirus kit to educate our distribution partners and customers on how to avoid norovirus infections and how to respond to them if they occur," she added.

JohnsonDiversey offers six EPA-registered products to help control norovirus. Included in that list are Oxivir TbTM/MC and Carpe Diem TbTM/MC, one-step cleaner-disinfectants formulated with proprietary AHP(R) hydrogen peroxide technology to deliver fast, effective cleaning performance and 60-second contact time for disinfection.

These products are among the most sustainable products on the market. The active ingredient, hydrogen peroxide, breaks down into oxygen and water, giving the products an HMIS (Hazardous Materials Identification System) health hazard rating of zero when used at proper dilution.

"The extraordinarily quick kill time and unique environmental health and safety profile of these products make them a great fit for restaurants, nursing homes, schools and cruise ships - the most common norovirus outbreak settings," Santoro said. "But our training kit will also help distributors protect their customers in all types of buildings and settings."

Norovirus is highly contagious, which causes outbreaks to spread rapidly. JohnsonDiversey's norovirus infection control kit enables distributors to quickly communicate with their customers and provide effective products and resources in a timely manner.
