Campbell Appoints David Stangis Vice President Corporate Social Responsibility

CAMDEN, N.J. - September 2, 2008 - Campbell Soup Company (NYSE: CPB) today announced the appointment of David P. Stangis as Vice President - Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), a new position at the company.

Stangis, 43, will be responsible for designing Campbell's overarching CSR strategy, including its efforts to promote environmental sustainability. Working closely with senior leaders, Stangis will build on Campbell's ongoing work in this area and oversee the development of CSR goals, policies and programs for the company. He will be based at Campbell's headquarters in Camden and will report to Ellen Oran Kaden, Senior Vice President - Law and Government Affairs.

Stangis has significant experience in corporate social responsibility, having worked in the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) or CSR fields for more than 20 years. He joins Campbell from Intel Corporation, where he was Global Director, Corporate Responsibility for the last eight years with responsibility for developing Intel's CSR strategies and coordinating those strategies with business units.

During his tenure as Global Director, Stangis was instrumental in attaining the top spot for Intel in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for seven straight years, as well as the No.1 corporate citizen ranking for the Russell 1000 companies according to CRO Magazine. He served on Intel's Ethics and Compliance Oversight Committee and facilitated the company's CSR Management Review Committee and Executive CSR Council.
Stangis spent 11 years at Intel in a variety of roles, including External Affairs Manager and Senior Engineer, Environment, Health and Safety. Prior to Intel, Stangis worked for several environmental engineering firms.

In August, Campbell published its 2008 corporate social responsibility report, entitled "Nourishing People's Lives," which describes the company's strategies, policies, programs and initiatives to implement its commitment to corporate social responsibility, including environmental sustainability. Stangis earned his B.S. degree from the University of Detroit. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Occupational and Environmental Health from Wayne State University in Detroit. He is on the advisory boards of Net Impact, The Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship and Ethical Corporation Magazine. Stangis was recently named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Business Ethics by Ethisphere Magazine.
