THE ORGANIZATION:

An independent Corporate social Responsibility (CSR) & Supply Chain Sustainability consultancy supporting multi-nationals and related entities to integrate CSR & sustainability into business strategy and operations through consulting, research, and convening's, is seeking an organized and motivated professional for our sustainability services practice. This position is located in the firm's New York, U.S.A. office. THE POSITION:

The Director will have primary responsibility for continuing to build CSR and sustainability work with multinationals and related entities across a wide range of industry sectors. The director will have significant responsibility and autonomy in developing business opportunities and delivering consulting projects that provide high value to corporate clients and other organizations whom are interested in improving their CSR and/or sustainability performance. The Director will oversee and participate in project teams focused on the development and implementation of CSR and sustainability into business strategy and operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this position, the Director will be responsible for external representation of Advisory Services practice to external audiences by (a) presenting at industry forums; (b) forming beneficial external partnerships and (c) creating other opportunities to raise the profile of the company more broadly. In this position, the director will be responsible for scoping and executing research and advisory retainer relationships and consulting-type industry projects with multinational corporations in the United States and Europe, including playing an important leading role in the business development function, sourcing and selling such engagements with both new / existing clients as well as proposing strategic, innovative and integrated approaches to find and apply for CSR & sustainability related government grants, that leverage existing industry tools and build on on-going domestic services offered through civil society organizations. Within internal practice management, the director will be responsible for internal management meetings, strategy discussions and budget planning. The Director will assist in supervising and developing the professional capabilities of other members of the advisory services consulting and project teams. Given the varying nature of our assignments, the successful candidate will need to be an agile learner, a versatile problem solver and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in business, law, public policy, environmental management or other relevant discipline required;

  • Significant advisory or consulting experience (at least 5 years) required, to perform the key functions of a practice leader, including: developing and maintaining senior-level client relationships; pursuing and creating business opportunities; and overseeing multiple projects under tight deadlines;

  • Deep knowledge and experience in key CSR content areas, such as: stakeholder engagement, supply chain, environment, human rights, or sustainable development;

  • Experience in developing CSR-Sustainability related methodologies, such as: sustainability reporting, social/environmental risk assessment, strategy design & implementation, or social/environmental impact indicator development;

  • Knowledge and experience related to business processes such as strategic planning, organizational development, training programs, performance management, change management, etc;

  • Proven leadership and people skills, including a demonstrated ability to mentor the skills and effectiveness of other team members;

  • Outstanding verbal, written, and facilitation skills;

  • Willingness to undertake business travel (25-40% time);

  • Language skills: Fluent in English;

  • Capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced entrepreneurial organization with a collaborative environment;

  • High ethical standards
