Funding to support homework help and tutoring Power Hour program
NATICK, Mass. - April 21, 2009 - To honor its commitment of giving back to local communities, BJ's Wholesale Club, its Members and its Vendor Partner Procter & Gamble (P&G) announced today that they have donated $5,000 grants to 20 Boys and Girls Clubs' Power Hour programs. Throughout the month of March, when BJ's Members purchased selected P&G products, a portion of the proceeds benefitted this important effort.
Power Hour is the homework and tutoring program designed to raise the academic proficiency of Boys & Girls Club members ages 6-12. Power Hour provides children with the guidance necessary to complete their homework and start the next school day with a sense of confidence and ability.
"BJ's Wholesale Club is proud to support local Boys and Girls Clubs throughout our footprint. Their commitment to creating a learning environment filled with educational activities, like Power Hour, ensures that children develop academically in a safe environment," said Jessica Newman, BJ's manager of community relations. "For the last few years, BJ’'s has supported various Boys & Girls Clubs distributing $88,000 in grants through the BJ’s Charitable Foundation, and we will continue to fund these valued community organizations well into the future."
