MADISON, Wis., Sep. 01 /CSRwire/ - As part of its mission to advance sustainability, Leonardo Academy has become an endorser of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP). Endorsers are non-profit organizations that coordinate with EPA to publicize and promote the use of landfill gas as a commercially viable environmentally beneficial energy source.

Leonardo Academy is a charitable 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to advancing sustainability and putting the competitive market to work on improving the environment. Leonardo Academy develops new methods, metrics and standards for environmental improvement and helps businesses, organizations, and individuals implement sustainability measures and document their achievements. Services and programs include LEED(R) implementation and certification, emissions footprints, reductions and offsets, supply chain sustainability, overall sustainability assessments and implementation, sustainable standards development, land management, and training. For additional information about the Leonardo Academy visit www.leonardoacademy.org.

The U.S. EPA's Landfill Methane Outreach Program is a voluntary assistance and partnership program that promotes the use of landfill gas as a renewable, green energy source. Landfill gas is a natural by-product of the decomposition of solid waste in landfills and is comprised primarily of carbon dioxide and methane. By preventing emissions of methane (a powerful greenhouse gas) through the development of landfill gas energy projects, LMOP helps businesses, states, energy providers, and communities protect the environment and build a sustainable future.
