MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 07/16/09 -- Quebec spring-water brand NAYA is proud to announce the arrival of its latest innovation-bottles containing 50% recycled plastic. To this day, NAYA is the only brand in Canada to guarantee this percentage of recycled materials in its polyethylene-terephtalate (PET) plastic bottles. The 50% rate was made possible through seven years of research and development on the company's part.

Daniel Cotte, president of Naya Waters said: "It's with great pride that we're introducing these new containers for all our water-bottle formats. We want to offer our clients the choice to consume bottled water with total peace of mind, in a plastic container that's the 'greenest' on the Canadian bottled-water market. That's why we take recycling to heart and work tirelessly to find new outlets, starting with our own packaging".

Environmental impact

Reducing the environmental footprint has been at the heart of NAYA's brand strategy for many years. Since 2005, NAYA has been working tirelessly to introduce new innovations to the bottled-water market. Here are a few examples:

  • 16% reduction in the quantity of plastic used to manufacture 500-ml bottles.

  • 2.5% reduction in the quantity of plastic used to manufacture bottle caps.

  • 23.7% reduction of cardboard used for packaging.

Protection of the NAYA spring

The NAYA spring is located in Mirabel, at the feet of the Laurentians, and is preserved by geological strata deposited millions of years ago. NAYA natural spring water is microbiologically pure, containing no human pollution, no impurity and no contaminant. To ensure the spring's safety at all times, NAYA performs daily physico-chemical and microbiological tests on the spring's water in its internal laboratory, and weekly tests are performed in an external certified lab. The same tests are also done every four hours during the bottling process.
