Annual vaccination program will begin September 20

Flu clinic program will include Osco and Sav-on stores acquired by CVS

Walk-in flu shots will also be available at all CVS MinuteClinic locations

Woonsocket, Rhode Island: CVS/pharmacy announced today that it will offer flu vaccinations in approximately 4,500 stores across the country. The clinics will begin on Wednesday, September 20 and continue through mid-November. For dates, times and specific locations, customers may call 1-800-SHOP-CVS and choose option #1, or visit the CVS.com online Store Finder to locate a CVS/pharmacy flu clinic in their area.

"As a leading health care provider, our annual flu clinics are part of our commitment to help our customers stay healthy," said Matt Leonard, RPh, Senior Vice President of Pharmacy at CVS/pharmacy. "We encourage people to stop by their local CVS/pharmacy during a scheduled clinic to receive their vaccination before the flu season begins."

"We are also pleased to be significantly expanding our flu vaccination program this year," added Leonard. "CVS/pharmacy flu clinics will be held in several new markets that we recently entered through our acquisition of Osco and Sav-on drug stores. In addition, all MinuteClinic retail health clinics inside CVS/pharmacy stores will administer flu shots on a walk-in basis beginning on October 1. These services will be offered during all hours of operation and throughout the flu season."

The Centers for Disease Control recommends flu vaccinations especially for people ages 50 and older, people with chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma and heart disease, and health care providers.

Age restrictions and the cost of a flu shot at CVS/pharmacy will vary depending on the location of the clinic. Vaccines for Medicare Part B beneficiaries who present their Medicare Card will be available at no charge, provided they have not assigned their Medicare benefits to a private Health Maintenance Organization.
