ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 25, 2007--Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) today extended its commitment to helping customers protect the environment for the long term by partnering with attendees of this week's National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) in Atlanta to facilitate the planting of 1,000 trees.

The company will plant a tree on behalf of the first 1,000 attendees who pledge to join Dell in sharing environmental best practices in their communities and classrooms.

"Today's students and teachers are part of the 'Re-Generation,' which means they have a crucial role to play in improving the earth we all share," said Karen Bruett, Dell's director of K-12 business development. "By joining with conference participants to plant trees, we are adding to our ongoing efforts to partner with customers to become the greenest technology company on the planet."

Dell enables customers to offset the emissions associated with the energy used to power their technology through its "Plant a Tree for Me" program. The company partners with The Conservation Fund and Carbonfund.org, non-profit organizations that plant trees in sustainably managed reforestation projects. During its average 70-year lifespan, a single tree can trap about 1.3 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere -- roughly the emissions that would result from a road trip from Maine to California.

Customers in the U.S. can donate $2 for a notebook and $6 for a desktop to offset emissions resulting from the production of electricity used by the product during its average lifetime. The program is currently available to businesses and consumers in the United States and Europe.
