Company devotes single day to community service spanning across 40 countries
Acting on its values and continuing Motorola's heritage of community service, Motorola volunteers will paint, plant, teach and clean at more than 240 project sites such as schools, libraries and non-government organizations. For example, employees will:
"Motorola and its employees care about the communities where we work and live, and we're rolling up our sleeves to show it," said Ed Zander, Motorola chief executive officer. "We're creating links between our communities and our employees that will last beyond the day of service. And, of course, it's going to be a lot of fun for all involved."
Thousands of employees also will participate in in-office projects such as donating books, school supplies and clothing to people in need. The event is organized by Motorola volunteers and the Motorola Foundation, which has supported education and community services worldwide since 1953.
