Company's Products and Technologies Make Life Better for People Around the World

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) has released its 2004 Global Corporate Citizenship Report, which shares the company's principles, policies, and progress on the environment, health, safety and other important issues. Themed "Bridging the Digital Divide," the report demonstrates how Motorola is using its products to create seamless mobility solutions to help people around the world.

"Motorola today is defined not only by our innovative, industry-leading products and services, but also by our corporate citizenship," said Ed Zander, CEO of Motorola. "I am confident that Motorola's commitment to social responsibility matches our long-standing commitment to innovation."

The Motorola 2004 Global Corporate Citizenship Report addresses questions about corporate governance, environmental health and safety, community relations, philanthropy, diversity and treatment of employees. Highlights include:

  • Motorola and the Motorola Foundation supported thousands of organizations around the world and donated more than $12 million in 2004.

  • In the early hours of the tsunami crisis last December, Motorola - a major partner of first responders around the world - deployed equipment and technical support to meet critical communications needs in affected areas. As of 2005, the contribution of equipment and money from Motorola and its employees has reached $4 million.

  • The Citizens Index rated Motorola a top 10 corporate citizen for efforts to improve the environment.

  • Motorola received the U.S. Secretary of State's Award for Corporate Excellence for its stewardship in Brazil.

  • Motorola integrated a review of its suppliers' global corporate citizenship (GCC) practices into the Motorola supplier capability mapping process. Before beginning a business relationship, Motorola evaluates each potential supplier's GCC performance along with other critical business performance measures.

  • Motorola helped develop a safe driving curriculum for the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety, partnered with the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association on its driver safety campaign and developed a novice driver program with the American Automobile Association.

  • Motorola continues to support the Race to Recycle program which enables schools to earn approximately $3 per intact phone they collect in their communities. Getting young people involved early helps raise good corporate citizens.

Quoting from the report, "As the world becomes more connected, corporate actions become even more important. Committed to responsible behavior, we evaluate our environmental and social policies and performance - and take appropriate action. We provide information and help in times of crisis. And we empower our employees to lead within their communities, using Motorola's resources and knowledge to improve and inspire."
