Government representatives and top corporations gather to discuss the relative benefit of aid at a conference organised by Ethical Corporation in London, March 21-22.

LONDON - March 15, 2007 - For the first time, the established annual conference will have a special focus on governments' role in cross-sector partnerships. Corporations, including Statoil, Nestle and Vodafone will discuss how to get best results from relationships with NGOs and government bodies.

In 2005, the G8 countries promised to double their aid to Africa from $25bn in 2004 to at least $50bn by 2010. However, according to a recent report by the OECD, poor forward planning and unrealistic timescales have meant that much of this aid has not been effectively incorporated into the recipient countries' existing policies and growth strategies – and so will have limited impact.

Guaranteeing sustainable results from investment is a growing concern for both government and private sectors. All parties are beginning to recognise that cross- sector collaboration is often the only way to tackle some of the world's most demanding problems and guarantee long-term success.

The only conference of its kind, Ethical Corporation's Business-NGO-Government Partnership conference shows how to build long-term, profitable relationships between sectors.

Confirmed attendees include senior representatives from GSK, DFID, MTV, the UN, Nestle, WHO, Eskom, WWF and Vodafone among others.
