Corporations in the Community: "A Canadian View of Corporate Social Responsibility"
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) argues that corporations can do well by doing good. How Canadian businesses balance more significant and diverse stakeholder needs -while continuing to generate profitable returns for their shareholders - will determine their economic success in 2004 and beyond. In this post-Enron age, CSR is becoming not only socially desirable, but a business necessity.
Conference attendees will consider the strategic case for CSR and discuss the tools and attitudes needed to install meaningful programs in a Canadian context. The conference will also help attendees balance stakeholder interests, better understand the changing role of the non-profit, and learn from organizations leading this charge.
This year's conference will feature a keynote speech from David Batstone, founding Editor of Business 2.0 magazine and author of the best-selling book Saving the Corporate Soul. Guests will participate in discussion forums and will have opportunities to network with for-profit and non-profit representatives as well as with members of the government and academic communities.
All are welcome. Further information and tickets are available online at www.rotman.utoronto.ca/csrconference. For direct contact please email csrconference@rotman.utoronto.ca.
