Unprecedented Corporate Contributions for Disaster Relief: Top US Companies Gather to do More

The Business Roundtable's Partnership for Disaster Relief Presents Beyond Cold Cash: Unlocking the Value of Corporate America's Role in Disaster Response Tuesday, March 21, 2006


WHAT: Working Conference---Beyond Cold Cash: Unlocking the Value of Corporate America's Role in Disaster Response. The private sector played an unprecedented role in responding to the rash of natural disasters in 2005. The Business Roundtable's Partnership for Disaster Relief is an effort to expand corporate commitment beyond financial contributions. In 2005, a total of 144 Roundtable member companies contributed $362 million to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. The Partnership also played an active role in the response to the South Asia earthquake; 41 member companies have contributed $43 million to date.

The conference will focus on building successful partnerships and systems to enhance and accelerate on-the-ground relief and recovery activities following major natural disasters in the United States and abroad. A full day of panels and presentations will feature best practices from 2005, and develop recommendations - by sector - for improved corporate collaboration with the U.S. government, relief organizations and international agencies.
