Vancouver BC - For the first time ever GLOBE 2004 will feature a "one-of-a-kind" experience to illustrate exactly what climate change can do to our environment. The Climate Change Theatre, created by Science North in Sudbury, is filled with stunning special effects, recreating weather and climate changes right inside the theatre. The show is presented by a fast-talking, but informed sheep (voiced by Canadian actor/comedian Rick Mercer) that talks about the past, present, and future of the world's climate and how it affects life on earth.

This exciting presentation, created with partial-funding by the Suncor Energy Foundation, will leave visitors well informed about changes in the world's climate. The show is in support of Canada's Climate Change Plan, which challenges all Canadians to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by one tonne, roughly 20% of what individual Canadians produce on average each year.

Climate Change is one of the most important issues on the GLOBE 2004 agenda. The Climate Change Plenary (Thursday April 1, 8:30am - 10:30am) features speakers John Efford, Federal Minister of Natural Resources, and Rick George, President and CEO of Suncor Energy Inc. The plenary will be moderated by Michael Phelps, Chairman, Advisory Council, Duke Energy Canada.

Other sessions in the Energy and Climate Change track will discuss climate policy, greenhouse gas technology innovations, alternative energy sources, and leadership in the new energy era. Speakers hail from around North America, as well as the United Kingdom, Colombia and Norway.

GLOBE 2004, held from March 31 to April 2, 2004 at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre, is North America's leading conference on the business of the environment, touching on the hot-button issues of the day, featuring the world's most informed and leading experts in urban planning, policy and technology. GLOBE 2004 will also tackle the major issues of corporate sustainability and the business of building better cities.
