National Experts Will Discuss Marketing Renewables in a Carbon-Conscious World

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - August 28, 2007 - The Center for Resource Solutions (CRS), the Department of Energy, (DOE) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced today that the preeminent annual renewable energy marketing conference in the U.S. will take place Oct. 21-24th 2007 in Philadelphia at the Sheraton Society Hotel. Registration is now open at http://www.renewableenergymarketing.net/gp12/reg.shtml

The Twelfth National Renewable Energy Marketing Conference is the industry's biggest annual gathering attended by leading renewable energy and green power industry stakeholders. Conference attendees will hear from national and regional experts on important topics facing the renewable energy industry such as:

  • Lessons Learned from Leading Renewable Energy Providers and Top
    Renewable Energy Purchasers

  • The Interplay between Renewable Energy and Carbon Markets

  • Sustainability and the Media

  • Communicating the Value of Renewable Energy to Consumers

According to conference organizer, nonprofit organization The Center for Resource Solutions, the carbon market has experienced rapid growth the last few years, with renewable energy playing a larger role than ever as integral components of carbon-offset programs. "In order for this market to continue to flourish, standards need to be in place, and we need to boost consumer confidence in the quality of carbon-reduction programs," said Jan Hamrin, president of The Center for Resource Solutions. "This year's conference will explore the intersection between renewable energy and carbon markets, and make projections on where the renewable energy market is heading."

Speakers include: CEOs of leading renewable energy marketing companies, some of the largest renewable energy purchasers, and state and federal government leaders. Some of the key events taking place as part of the conference include a tour of the Jersey-Atlantic Wind Farm in Atlantic City, N.J., the presentation of the Seventh Annual Green Power Leadership Awards, the popular pre-conference workshop “Green Power 101”, and a conference reception in Independence Visitors Center, Independence National Historical Park. For more information about these events, please contact Jeff Swenerton, CRS Communications Director, at 415-561-2119. The conference attracts influential key players including power marketers, renewable energy developers, retail or wholesale green power suppliers, electric utilities, equipment manufacturers, government agencies, energy consultants, and non-profit experts.

The Host Sponsor for this year's conference is Pennsylvania-based Community Energy, An Iberdrola Company; Platinum Sponsors are the DOE, U.S. EPA, Sterling Planet, SmartPower, and Constellation NewEnergy.

Renewable energy, or "green power," is electricity generated from non-depletable energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, biogas, low-impact hydro and biomass resources with low or no emissions. These renewable energy sources are better for the environment than those that rely on the combustion of fossil fuel that creates greenhouse gas emissions.
