October 9, 2007 - BNFL's report for 2007, available via http://www.reportalert.info/ra/BNFL091007.htm is quite different from those in previous years to reflect the major changes that continue to take place in the company. It has been written to help stakeholders understand those changes and their implications.

The corporate section of the report details how the company has been repositioning its businesses in order to generate maximum shareholder value, improve their prospects for growth and secure good homes for employees. It provides an outline of the company’s delivery of strong safety, environmental, social and economic performance.

Accountability for corporate responsibility has been devolved to the businesses in preparation for their transfers to new ownership. The separate inserts in the report (Sellafield, Nexia Solutions, Reactor Sites and Project Services) provide an overview of their performance across the broad spectrum of corporate responsibility, covering key achievements as well as areas of challenge.

The report, which has been subject to independent assurance by Ernst & Young, can be downloaded from the BNFL website (see link above).

BNFL is the parent company for a group of UK-based businesses providing services in nuclear decommissioning and clean-up, fuel reprocessing, transport and technology. The largest of these, Sellafield Ltd, is responsible for the delivery of multi-million pound (sterling) contracts on behalf of the UK's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. The BNFL Group currently employs around 11,000 people.
