August 15, 2007- Nexen Inc., a Canadian-based and globally active energy company, has published its 2006 Sustainability Report: Doing the Right Things for the Right Reasons, available via http://www.reportalert.info/ra/Nexen150807.htm

Nexen is strategically positioned in some of the world's most prospective petroleum basins: the North Sea, the deep-water Gulf of Mexico, the Middle East, offshore West Africa and the Canadian Athabasca oil sands.

This year's report features expanded data coverage, with more detailed disclosure on greenhouse gas emissions and integrity management. The report also features a self-assessment against the Global Reporting Initiative's 2002 Guidelines.

For the third consecutive year, Nexen has engaged an independent multistakeholder group to provide an external perspective on the report. This year's report includes comments from the group on the current report, as well as Nexen's response to the group's recommendations on the 2005 report.

Nexen has produced a 10-page summary report in addition to its 50-page main report.
