British Energy's fourth full Corporate Social Responsibility Report focuses on the theme of partnership and the important role this plays across its operations. The Report is based on the Business in the Community guidelines, highlighting performance in the key areas of the marketplace, workplace, environment and community. There is a focus on customers, on the importance of the Company's supply chain, its contribution to environmental well-being, and on the relationship between employees and their local communities. There is an opportunity to review the Company's performance through an extended set of indicators that covers its operations. This year British Energy has sought independent verification of their performance indicators.
A FTSE 100 company, British Energy Group plc is the UK's largest producer of electricity and has the lowest carbon emissions of the major UK electricity generators. The Company own and operate eight nuclear power stations. In addition, they own and run a coal fired power station, have a joint venture in four small embedded gas fired power plants and have interests in a small number of renewable development projects.
