May 31, 2007- KBC Group’s 2006 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report is now available for download in English via http://www.reportalert.info/ra/KBC310507.htm. For this third report, KBC has adopted a more stakeholder-oriented approach. The report covers KBC’s CSR performance for 2006 and describes the group’s responsibility towards its employees, customers, suppliers, shareholders & investors and the community at large, including how its environmental footprint is being managed.

This time, the CSR Report has been drawn up in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative’s new G3 guidelines, and KBC has elected to apply the C+ reporting level. Moreover, the scope now covers virtually all of KBC’s operations around the world, including that of its main home markets of Belgium and Central and Eastern Europe. The key performance indicators are presented in consolidated form for 2005 and 2006 to increase transparency and enable comparability. And, once again, the report has been independently assured by Ernst & Young.

KBC is an integrated multi-channel bancassurance group, catering mainly for retail customers, small and medium-sized enterprises and private banking clientele. Geographically, KBC focuses on Belgium and Central and Eastern Europe for retail bancassurance and asset management, as well as for the provision of services to corporate customers. The group also conducts private banking and merchant banking activities in a selection of other countries in Europe. Elsewhere around the world, the group has established a presence in selected countries and regions.
