ATHENS, GREECE. - January 26, 2009 - ARTMARATHON, an international non-profit Swiss foundation, and Athens-based EuroCharity jointly planted 42 trees on Mt. Pentelikon on Sunday morning, as part of a global, 42-year "ARTMARATHON" that commenced in Marathon, Greece on December 10, 2008.

Mr. Benedikt Morandi, President, ARTMARATHON, his wife Mrs. Rabea Morandi (Co-Director, ARTMARATHON) and Mr. Peter Michel Heilmann, President, EuroCharity, planted these Greek trees as part of a large-scale replanting initiative involving 30,000 volunteers and 40,000 trees.

Commenting on this effort, the President of this international art "Odyssey" that will end on December 10, 2050 said: "When you plant a tree, you plant new life. We have planted art and wish to encourage others to do so! We look forward to returning to Mt. Pentelikon when the 'ARTMARATHON' will come to an end here in the birthplace of the Marathon and Democracy in 2050."

"People from all walks of life, young and old, from Greece and abroad, planted a very clear and strong message of hope for today's and tomorrow's generations, right here on the fire-stricken slopes of Mt. Pentelikon," added EuroCharity's President.

EuroCharity and the ARTMARATHON Foundation would like to thank Mr. Dimitris Stergiou-Kapsalis, Mayor of Penteli and President, Association for the Protection and Development of the Pentelikon (SPAP), along with all the volunteers, local communities as well as SKAI Radio and TV for their contribution to this unique tree-planting day.
