Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Sponsoring The 2002 Edinburgh International Book Festival

WATERBURY, Vermont - Green Mountain Coffee, Inc. (NASDAQ: GMCR) is a sponsor of the 2002 Edinburgh International Book Festival, which will be held in Edinburgh, Scotland, August 10th through 26th. The event, which is expected to draw over 120,000 attendees, is the biggest celebration of the written word in the world.

The special themes for this year's festival include the meeting of Western and Eastern cultures, Profit vs. the Environment, and Americans, among others. During the seventeen-day event, over 500
authors, including Joyce Carol Oates, Garrison Keillor, and Louis de Bernieres, will appear in 650 venues ranging from topical debates and discussions, to poetry readings. In addition, the festival includes an extensive children's program of readings, debates, illustration classes, and storytelling.

As roaster of the official coffee of the 2002 Edinburgh International Book Festival, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters will be serving a variety of its certified Fair Trade organic coffees at the Green Mountain Coffee Roasters cafe, and every morning at the "Celtic Writers for Breakfast" series. Some of the finest Scottish and Irish writers will start the day with a breakfast of pastries and Green Mountain coffee, including Janice Galloway, author of Clara, Eoin McNamee, author of The Blue Tango, and Edwin Morgan, poet laureate of Glasgow.
