Humanitarian IQ, now online at www.humanitarianiq.com, tests knowledge of world issues and aid organizations making a difference

Minneapolis, MN. - May 19, 2009 - NEED Communications, Inc. and NEED magazine, an award-winning publication devoted to telling stories of hope and humanitarian work, today announced the launch of the Humanitarian IQ, an online quiz designed to test people's knowledge of world issues and humanitarian aid efforts.

Now online at www.humanitarianiq.com and through NEED's Web site, www.needmagazine.com, the quiz features 15 questions on topics such as land mines, access to health care, labor practices and the humanitarian organizations making a difference. Each question is accompanied by a stunning photograph provided by world-renowned photographers including John Abernathy and Paul Corbit Brown.

Participants are "awarded" a NEED Peace Prize, Courage of Conscience Award, Good Neighbor Award, or similar designation based on their IQ score, which can be shared with friends and family via e-mail, Facebook and other social media.

"In each issue of NEED, we highlight serious world issues and the hope that comes with humanitarian aid organizations' related efforts. We wanted to do the same thing in an approachable and interactive way with the Humanitarian IQ," said Stephanie Kinnunen, co-founder of NEED. "By testing what they already know, we hope people will be inspired to learn more and find ways to get involved."
