CSR Profile of Blackbaud

About Blackbaud Blackbaud is the leading global provider of software and services designed specifically for nonprofit organizations, enabling them to improve operational efficiency, build strong relationships, and raise more money to support their missions. Approximately 22,000 organizations — including University of Arizona Foundation, American Red Cross, Cancer Research UK, The Taft School, Lincoln Center, InTouch Ministries, Tulsa Community Foundation, Ursinus College, Earthjustice, International Fund for Animal Welfare, and the WGBH Educational Foundation — use one or more Blackbaud products and services for fundraising, constituent relationship management, financial management, website management, direct marketing, education administration, ticketing, business intelligence, prospect research, consulting, and analytics. As the recipient of the 2007 AFP Outstanding Business Award and 2008 Philanthropic Spirit Award, Blackbaud believes there is more to running a technology company than developing software. Under the leadership of CEO Marc Chardon, the company continues its long tradition of philanthropy seeking to make a difference in the world both as a corporate citizen and a catalyst for individual employees to give back. "Service to others makes the world a better place" is a corporate value Blackbaud takes seriously. In addition to a corporate relations and philanthropy team, programs that Blackbaud has developed and supported to encourage employees to give back are:

  • Volunteer for Vacation – which allows employees to earn additional vacation days by volunteering with local nonprofits. Additionally, many employees participate in United Way's Day of Caring, taking a company-sponsored day off of work to volunteer with a nonprofit and make a difference in the community.
  • Community Grants – established to make a positive impact in the community, Blackbaud makes grants, through the Blackbaud Fund at the Coastal Community Foundation, to organizations in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, where it is headquartered, focusing on education for disadvantaged youth. Led by employees, the grants committee determines how the funding is distributed. Service on this committee is considered to be an honor.
  • Employee Volunteer Impact Grants – a program that encourages employees to apply for a "Reward Your Passion" grant on behalf of nonprofits where they volunteer. The grants are awarded based on employees' service to organizations.
  • Team Blackbaud – a grassroots employee-led volunteer corps that has been in existence since 1998. The corps, which conducts quarterly philanthropic campaigns, has teams operating in each of Blackbaud's offices worldwide.
Since 1981, Blackbaud's sole focus and expertise has been partnering with nonprofits and providing them the solutions they need to make a difference in their local communities and worldwide. Headquartered in the United States, Blackbaud also has operations in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. For more information, visit www.blackbaud.com/philanthropy.
