As a company, Hitachi America, Ltd. is committed to having an active role in the communities in which our employees work and live. The company places a strong emphasis on employee volunteerism and coordinates a variety of corporate volunteer initiatives throughout the year.

The community service and involvement by employees is deeply ingrained in Hitachi's corporate culture and has been a part of the company's business philosophy since its founding in the United States for over 50 years. Additionally, Hitachi America, Ltd. supports the community and non-profit organizations through its Community Relations department as well as its employee-based Community Action Committee (CAC).

CACs are comprised of groups of employees who volunteer their time and serve on these committees. The committees are charged with establishing giving priorities, reviewing funding proposals and helping to coordinate employee projects. The committees generally seek to support specific projects or programs that will have the greatest positive impact on their local communities. They also coordinate both internal and external employee volunteer projects in collaboration with Community Relations.

The CACs work in conjunction with The Hitachi Foundation through the Hitachi Community Action Partnership (HCAP), a program established in 1987. The partnership enables the Foundation to support the giving priorities established by each CAC and to increase the impact CACs have on issues affecting their local communities. Through HCAP, The Hitachi Foundation also recognizes employee volunteer efforts by providing donation to selected organizations to match employee service hours.
