In a story where passion and attitude are essential pillars, CASE presents the story of Lina Marcela Gonzalez Vásquez, Commercial Coordinator of the dealer <a href="https://partequipos.com/" target="_blank">Partequipos</a>, the official distributor for CASE in Colombia. "The word that best defines what work means to me is "fulfillment", says Lina, “Every day, having the opportunity to contribute, grow professionally, and achieve goals within my field of work gives me a sense of satisfaction and personal accomplishment that I find invaluable."

In her day-to-day work, Lina plays a fundamental role, supporting and sustaining the commercial process to promote the development of each sales opportunity, providing accompaniment to both commercial advisors and others involved. In addition, she oversees the negotiation processes with international suppliers, always maintaining a results-oriented approach, with a high level of productivity and quality in her work.

Women play a prominent role throughout the sector's value chain, which has increased in recent years. "Personally, I am optimistic about the growing presence of women in a male-dominated sector like mine. Participation not only fosters gender equality, but also enriches our work environment with a variety of perspectives and skills."

These learnings have been fundamental for my personal and professional growth in the field," said Lina.

Since 2016, Partequipos has been an official CASE distributor in the Latin American country. Currently, it has points of sale in seven of the main cities of the country, providing coverage and assistance at a national level, ensuring a comprehensive and effective service throughout the territory.

Each year, participants are invited to create PSAs explaining why “Cash is Best” when donating to international disaster relief efforts.  
When disaster strikes internationally, Americans want to help. While well intentioned, most people are unaware that donating material goods can hinder relief efforts by creating logistical challenges and overwhelming local infrastructure. Monetary donations to trusted organizations working on the ground helps support international disaster relief efforts and makes a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by these devastating events.  
The 2024 winning PSAs were selected from submissions received from universities and community colleges across the country in three categories: video, static image and GIFs.

A panel of experts from the fields of humanitarian assistance, communications and design served as volunteer judges: Oktay Dogramaci, former vice president of PayPal Giving, CTO and co-founder of MissionFish; Hillary Hoffower, editor and writer; Jeff Odom, director of digital marketing for IndyCar; Gretel Truong, producer; and Marcia Wong, deputy assistant to the administrator for USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance.

BXP Releases 2023 Sustainability & Impact Report

Schrödinger has published its second annual Corporate Sustainability report, which provides a comprehensive overview of the company's progress developing and executing on its strategy for addressing environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters.

Boston Scientific Reports 2023 Actions Toward a Healthier, More Equitable World

Achieving digital equity is at the heart of the work we do because we know how life-changing a reliable home Internet connection can be in today’s digital economy.

Through the federal government’s <a href="https://www.fcc.gov/acp" target="_blank">Affordable Connectivity Program</a> (ACP), more than 23 million households across America – <a href="https://www.bsgco.com/acp-fact-sheet" target="_blank">nearly 50% of which are military families</a> – are able to get online at little to no cost. Unfortunately, the ACP is only fully funded through April and is expected to lapse by May. This puts at risk all the progress we have made in keeping Americans connected to this critical resource.

<a href="https://corporate.comcast.com/stories/funding-affordable-connectivity-program-critical-for-our-countrys-future" target="_blank">As I said in January</a>, we believe that Congress and the White House should find a way to extend the ACP so people can stay connected and benefit from the Internet for education, healthcare, workforce development, veterans’ assistance, and so much more.

Partial ACP Credit – To help ease the transition, all ACP customers will receive a federally funded ACP credit of $14 on their Xfinity bills ($35 on Tribal lands) for the month of May as the government program winds down.

The award was received by Christina Tulfo, AEG’s Supplier Diversity Manager, during the Chamber’s 30th Annual Economic Awards Gala which highlights and recognizes corporations, small businesses, and individuals who have been most responsive to the African American community.

As the Director of Global Sustainability, Health and Wellness at Milliken and Company, Sarah is more than a contributor to this shift; she is a driving force behind it.

With a strong commitment to innovation, Sarah’s efforts at Milliken have focused on working to seamlessly bridge environmental stewardship, health and resilience, providing support to the industrial, manufacturing, NGO, and government sectors.

An influential voice and widely recognized expert, Sarah holds several important advisory roles, including USGBC’s LEED Steering Committee, ASID’s DEI Committee, the National Center for Healthy Housing’s Board of Directors, and IWBI’s Health Equity Advisory. Recognized for her leadership, she was also named a Greenbiz 30 under 30 and is a frequent contributor to roundtables and industry events on the circular economy, material health and indoor air quality.

Recently, we had a chance to connect with Sarah to discuss her innovative work in sustainability and health and hear more about how she is driving change in these important areas.

Q: You’ve spent most of your career working as a leader at the intersection of sustainability and health. Could you describe the influences that have shaped your leadership style and outline your approach to driving integrated sustainable practices? 
I began my career working in project management for a diverse, family-owned general contractor in Washington, D.C., and what I experienced during that time continues to shape my leadership style today. There were so many trades and moving pieces working in concert at the same time – and what I appreciated then and reflect on now is the role that allowing everyone to have a seat at the table can play in delivering outstanding results.

Our projects focused largely on building schools, so there was this sense that we were coming together to advance the greater good. It was a beautiful feeling to work together on projects we believed in – and to feel respected and appreciated for what we each brought to this collective effort. Today, I apply the lessons learned from those early experiences to my leadership role at Milliken and within the sustainability community at large – because there’s still no greater feeling than working together with others to accomplish great things for the benefit of all.

I try to approach driving integrated sustainable practices with thoughtfulness and intention. Sustainability for me begins with the personal choices I make each day, because I do not believe it’s possible to maintain a sustained commitment to this work without having it shape the way you live your life. I’ve embraced a holistic approach to sustainability that considers the environmental, economic and social aspects of my daily life that contribute to a more sustainable future for my family and my community – and then I get to come to work each day and do my part to make a difference on a much larger scale.

Q: You’ve been so instrumental in how Milliken has embraced opportunities to demonstrate health leadership. Could you highlight some key initiatives you’re leading at Milliken to achieve the company’s ambitious health and sustainability goals 
What I love about working at Milliken and what attracted me to the company was the earnestness of their commitment to innovating to reduce resource use, promote health, and contribute to circularity. I feel fortunate to have played a role in extending Milliken’s sustainability leadership with strategic partnerships like the one we <a href="https://www.milliken.com/en-us/news/milliken-and-company-earns-works-with-well-trademark-license-for-floor-covering-products" target="_blank">recently announced</a> with the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI).

Leading the charge to meet eligibility requirements for the Works with WELL trademark license and now being able to affirm with our customers that Milliken floor covering products contribute to the achieving of specific strategies outlined in the WELL Building Standard (WELL) is a professional accomplishment that I will always be proud of.

Recently, our team sought to understand how our floor covering products can contribute to a neuro-inclusive workplace. We partnered with Henigan Consulting Group and Sapio Research to develop a guide for creating a neuro-inclusive workplace. The white paper we produced, <a href="https://5677727.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net/hubfs/5677727/Landing%20Pages/Neurodiversity%20Report/Milliken%20Neurodiversity%20White%20Paper.pdf" target="_blank">Designing a Neuro-Inclusive Workplace</a>, incorporates the latest research on neurodiversity in business, with sources including academic research papers, output by charities for neurodiversity, and research by companies with expertise in specific areas of design. This is some of the most satisfying work I get to do – meeting people with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences to explore practical health and wellness considerations that ultimately benefit everyone.

Q: You played a big role in the WELL Summit last year, and I know you plan to be at the inaugural WELL Conference in Long Beach next week. Why are you so excited about this year’s event? 
I’m excited to immerse myself in a dynamic environment filled with insightful discussions, innovative ideas, and the latest trends. It will be great to connect with friends and meet others embarking on this journey. The Friday tour to L’Oréal’s West Coast Headquarters will be a treat.

Christina, formerly the global head of IBM Sustainability Software, brings almost 20 years of experience at the intersection of business, technology, and impact.

Wayne Balta, IBM's Chief Sustainability Officer, is retiring effective June 15. He will be succeeded by Christina Shim, Vice President, Product Management, IBM Sustainability Software, effective May 2.

During a remarkable 40-year career, Wayne has been the steward of IBM's commitment to environmental leadership and at the forefront of driving the company's global environmental results. He has also helped sustain the company's leadership on product safety. He is the architect of the global environmental management system that has ensured IBM's regulatory compliance and also enabled voluntary leadership initiatives which have garnered extensive recognition for IBM. His external eminence includes the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association for Environmental Management, and being named a White House "Champion of Change" by President Obama.

“At IBM, we are always looking for new ways to unlock the power of technology and transform our operations to become more efficient, increase productivity, and create a better employee and customer experience,” said Joanne Wright, Senior Vice President, Transformation and Operations at IBM. “We are excited about this announcement, and we are confident that Christina’s expertise will build on top of Wayne’s legacy to advance our sustainability efforts even further.”  
Christina currently leads IBM's sustainability software business, driving growth, partnerships and innovation using AI and hybrid cloud. She also serves on IBM's AI Ethics Board and ESG Executive Steering Committee. Christina has transformed and created strategy and operations for Fortune 500 firms, startups, non-profits and government organizations globally. She was recently recognized as one of Fortune's Most Powerful Women Next Gen on climate change, and has represented IBM on climate change and the intersection of AI and sustainability in the media, at COP and the World Energy Congress.
