The National Conference on Citizenship is an annual event that focuses on the state of civic engagement in America, and brings together civic leaders, educators, CEOs, and representatives from each branch of government to address issues related to our nation’s civic health. Our theme for this year’s Conference is “Jobs, Jobs, Jobs: Exploring the link between civic engagement and employment.”

The Conference will showcase and present new research and programs that explore the role all types of civic engagement play in creating thriving communities. This includes announcement of the winners of the first-ever Civic Data Challenge, and highlight of a new corporate citizenship initiative called The Civic 100, which explores how businesses make a difference in communities. We will also present our annual awards and conduct a “Sworn Again American“ ceremony.

Featured speakers and award winners include:

  • Jonathan Greenblatt, Director of the White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation
  •  The Honorable Norman Mineta, former Cabinet Secretary under Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton
  • Bob Nardelli, former CEO of Chrysler and Home Depot
  • Nnamdi Asomugha, cornerback for the Philadelphia Eagles
  • Wendy Spencer, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service
  • Christina Lurie, Owner of the Philadelphia Eagles
  • Sarah Bloom Raskin, Governor on the Federal Reserve Board
  • John Bridgeland, CEO of Civic Enterprises
  • Aman Singh, Editorial Director, CSRwire

The event will also be streamed live on Friday, September 14th from 1:00pm - 5:30pm ET on the NCoC website. We will include questions from our Twitter followers as part of the conference so please join the conversation on Twitter or Facebook.
