As America continues to expand its energy appetite, businesses and governments are constantly challenged to not only provide an ample and dependable energy source, but also a cleaner energy source to our cities and communities. Meanwhile, the rapidly increasing energy consumption level in the developing countries of Asia, which includes China and India, is expected to increase by more than 100% by 2025. The clean energy sector has taken off and the U.S. is in a heated global race to become the clean technology exporter to the world. Worldwide, the International Energy Agency estimates that achieving a 50% reduction in emissions by 2050 will require total additional global investments of $45 trillion.
During 2010, The Maryland-Asia Environmental Partnership at the Maryland Clean Energy Center are coming together to conduct a four-part energy outreach series. The goal of the forums, is to provide insights from top energy experts on approaches to addressing increased energy needs and the viability of various energy options under consideration to meet the region's energy crunch. This first forum will set the stage for the series as senior energy executives will address how electric power is generated, distributed and managed and how smart grid can improve the energy management process.
