ACTION AND REACTION: Developing a sustainable approach to emerging chemical issues

CSRwire

On August 9-10, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) will host Action and Reaction: Developing a sustainable approach to emerging chemical issues—a conference to address the economic and regulatory impact of chemical controls and regulations. Participants will launch a collaborative initiative aimed at balancing the social and economic impacts of domestic and foreign controls and regulatory programs such as REACH, RoHS, WEEE and GHS. Affected areas include chemical security, waste management, energy efficiencies, and other environmental and production activities that help to promote and enhance safety, health and the quality of life. Dr. John Marburger, director of the President’s Office of Science and Technology Policy, will deliver the keynote address, sharing his thoughts on the social, economic, and environmental impact of chemical controls and regulations. Chemical experts from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the American Chemical Society, General Motors, SOCMA, and the Asia-Pacific region will offer government, industry, and international perspectives.

Through a series of engaging keynote presentations, panel discussions and breakout sessions, participants will help to identify existing programs, initiatives, and applicable standards and compliance programs. A conference report will outline resources and recommendations for coordinated strategies and action plans. The event is open to all stakeholders, including industry, government, the scientific and technical communities, and other affected groups.
