3rd National Product Stewardship Forum

CSRwire

The Products Stewardship Institute (PSI) is convening our 3rd Annual National Product Stewardship Forum in San Francisco on May 29-31, 2007. PSI is the nation’s pre-eminent non-profit membership organization promoting more responsible and sustainable product stewardship. By forging partnerships with all participants involved in the lifecycle of a product, PSI opens channels of communication that lead to sustainable product stewardship systems.

During this two-day forum, policy makers, corporations, state and local governments, and environmental organizations will be brought together in an atmosphere designed for discussion and networking opportunities to explore the major challenges and solutions for product stewardship today. Join us to discuss the status of product stewardship, what role it can play in shaping a better environmental future, and what we can learn from product stewardship efforts by our colleagues in the U.S. and abroad.

Sessions will explore:

  • Various motivational forces for taking action on product stewardship – including shareholder resolutions, spiritual/ethical considerations, and basic business aspects, including financial savings, reduced regulation, customer loyalty, and competitive advantage.

  • Connections between chemicals policy and product stewardship.

  • International product stewardship programs from a corporate responsibility perspective.

  • Issues involved in advancing a national or state/regional strategy on pharmaceuticals, and overviews of key product stewardship initiatives on electronics, paint, mercury thermostats, auto switches, phone books, and compact fluorescent lamps.

  • The emergence of regional product stewardship council efforts in California, the Midwest, and the Northeast, and the lessons they can learn from existing networks.

Together we will collaborate with government, the private sector, and others to find product stewardship solutions that reflect the concept of “shared responsibility.”
