Good Things About the Recession

Rob_angeles

By Robert Angeles Gas prices going up, basic commodities are getting expensive, mass layoffs, retirement benefits going down the drain, and many more. Yes, the recession sucks! And who should we blame? Nope, not them but us. We are all part of this recession and we made it happen. You might disagree with me but I’m proud to be one of those guys who are not paying excessive credit card debts because of my wants and yet, I said US. One funny thing about the recession is that people start doing the finger dance every time something goes wrong. The finger needs to point at somebody for us to blame. And when the crowd spreads the news, even those who have no idea who the fall guys are, we hammer them down. And at the back of our heads, we know that we are like them. But there’s something good that this recession gave us. Maybe for us who can discern the opportunity that bad things can bring. Evaluate Since our resources our shrinking down, this recession is waking up one of man’s best instinct. Survival. Except for those who were born with a silver spoon in their mouth, we all started down below. During those lowly times, we are champions for being resourceful and able to stretch money to its limits. Through hard times and limited resources, we survived. But today, to what I see, the strong SHOULD survive for them to help the worthy weak. Not GM or AIG. This is the best time to evaluate our lifestyle and see what made us this way. The Creative Us Resources are shrinking and jobs are not enough in today’s economy. But there’s this creative spirit inside us that can think of a hundred ways to get through this mess. Instead of the fancy things we use to do like vacations, dinner outside, window shopping, why not explore simple things that we never bothered to look when we still have the means? Is it that hard? Entrepreneurship Yes and you don’t need government money to start one. I was able to talk to many people who started their home businesses. Some do their thing during the weekends and some after office. We are creative beings and with that creativity and current conditions, this is the best time to start something we can call our own. We don’t really need huge amounts of money just to start something. All we need is passion, dedication and to convince ourselves that we NEED to start this and we SHOULD make it work. Today, job security is a thing of the past. Just one recession and happy days are over. If the company feels filing for bankruptcy then that’s it! The reason why we feel so bad is that everything we have now is being flushed down the toilet and it hurts. Looking it at another angle, it’s the best time to wake social human traits that were forgotten because we got blinded by too much temporary abundance.
