LP to Donate $500,000 and 1.5 Million Square Feet of OSB to Katrina Relief and Rebuilding Efforts
(CSRwire) NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 2, 2005--Louisiana-Pacific
Corporation (LP) (NYSE:LPX) announced today it will donate $500,000 cash
to the American Red Cross to help with immediate relief efforts, as well
as match employee contributions to hurricane relief.
Additionally, LP will work with appropriate state agencies and
charitable organizations to donate 1.5 million square feet of its oriented
strand board (OSB) product for rebuilding efforts in Alabama, Mississippi
and Louisiana. OSB, a structural panel product, is among the building
products most needed in the period following a natural disaster.
CEO Rick Frost said, "Hurricane Katrina has had such devastating effects
on lives and homes. We trust our cash donation will help provide some
measure of immediate relief, and that our products will help the
rebuilding effort in the difficult months ahead."
Additionally, LP will immediately switch production at its Silsbee, Texas
mill from producing siding to manufacturing OSB structural panels, in
order to help provide adequate and timely supply to customers in the
aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
"Our Silsbee facility has the flexibility to quickly switch from
producing siding to making structural OSB panels. We want to ensure our
current customers have the OSB they need to provide to people rebuilding
their homes and lives," said Frost.
LP is a premier supplier of building products, delivering innovative,
