Baxter Highlights Recent Sustainability Activities and Recognition
(CSRwire) October 22, 2007 - Baxter was recently recognized by the Climate Disclosure
Project, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department
of Defense and Veterans Affairs for leadership in environmental
initiatives and excellence in manufacturing. Additionally, Baxter's recent
support of global health and relief efforts has helped individuals coping

Baxter Named to Climate Disclosure Leadership Index
Baxter was named "best in class" by the Carbon Disclosure Project
(CDP), a coalition of 315 institutional investors with $41 trillion in
assets. Baxter showed distinction in reporting of greenhouse gas emissions
and climate change strategies and was placed among 68 "Financial Times 500"
companies on the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index. Climate Disclosure
Leadership Index members are distinguished by their climate leadership,
their awareness of the risks and opportunities associated with climate
change, as well as the quality and effectiveness of programs put in place
to reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions.

Baxter Advances on U.S. EPA Green Power Partner list
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently released its updated
Fortune 500 Green Power Partner Challenge list, with Baxter ranked at
number 24 of 49 companies based on green power usage. Baxter's total
purchase of Green-e certified renewable energy certificates is equivalent
to 20.5 million kilowatt hours of Baxter’s total annual domestic
electricity usage.

Baxter Recognized by Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs
The U.S. Departments of Defense (DoD) and Veterans Affairs (VA) have named
Baxter as one of the recipients of the first DoD/VA Award for Healthcare
Product Data Quality. Baxter received a 2007 Leader Award for exceeding
data quality requirements at the item level including coverage,
completeness of packaging, and frequency of updates. The award
acknowledges manufacturers that recognize the importance of consistent
data and are leading efforts in the industry to define the role of
suppliers in data synchronization efforts.

Baxter Supports Communities in Need Globally
Baxter's recent support of global health and relief efforts has helped
individuals coping with natural disasters, disease and political upheaval.
In August and September, Baxter's partnership with AmeriCares helped to
provide product support and emergency aid after an earthquake devastated
the central coast of Peru and a cholera outbreak affected northern Iraq.
Baxter’s partnership with Direct Relief International helped the
organization to assist with the ongoing restructuring of the healthcare
system in South Sudan and provide medical aid to thousands of individuals
vulnerable to the Dengue Fever and pneumonia epidemics in El Salvador.
