Life Elements Takes an Environmental Leadership Position by Joining CarbonFund.org and Co-op America Business Network
C&M Couples Romance Collection Now Shipped CarbonFree™
(CSRwire) ATASCADERO,CA – October 10, 2007 - Life Elements, Inc (www.lifeelements.com), creators of
C&M Couples® natural, aromatherapy bath & body products, announces that
it has been approved and recognized as a committed green business by Co-op
America Business Network (www.coopamerica.org) and that it has
begun to offset its carbon footprint and offering CarbonFree shipping
through its partnership with CarbonFund.org (www.carbonfund.org), the country's
leading carbon solutions organization.
"Life Elements is committed to an environmentally sustainable economy and
offsetting our carbon footprint. We've incorporated a variety of
responsible business practices that support our vision of community
involvement, environmental awareness and responsible purchasing" said
Martha Van Inwegen, President of Life Elements.
This commitment places Life Elements as an environmental leader in the
beauty industry and demonstrates proactive steps being taken in the fight
against global climate change and sustainable practices. Through its
partnerships with Co-op America and Carbonfund.org, Life Elements has
shown its concern and is taking action. Considering the implications of
climate change, carbon offsets through Carbonfund.org and green practices
in cooperation with Co-op America are a natural extension of the work Life
Elements does on behalf of its community and its customers.
"Life Elements is committed to implementing responsible environmental
practices in our everyday business. We now offer CarbonFree shipping to
our clients and are encouraging them, our industry colleagues and friends
and family to join us. It's simple, it's easy, and it's helping save our
planet!" said Van Inwegen.
"Seeing a company like Life Elements take a comprehensive approach to
addressing environmental issues makes us proud to welcome them into the
CarbonFree family," said Steve Offutt, Chief Operating Officer of
Carbonfund.org. "They really exemplify our motto: Reduce what you can;
offset what you can't."
To qualify to appear in the Co-America National Green Pages™ and
carry their Seal of Approval, companies' representatives must demonstrate
that they:
Actively use their businesses as tools for positive social change;
Run "values-driven" enterprises that operate according to principles of
social justice and environmental sustainability;
Are socially and environmentally responsible in the way they source,
manufacture, and market their products and run their offices and
factories; and
Are committed to developing and employing extraordinary practices
that benefit workers, customers, communities, and the environment.
The companies that Co-op America approve are the social and environmental
leaders, representing the best practices of the top ten percent of their
industries. Green businesses listed in Co-op America's National Green
Pages have passed a screening process that qualifies them for membership
in their Business Network. Green businesses operate in ways that solve,
rather than cause, both environmental and social problems. These
businesses adopt principles, policies, and practices that improve the
quality of life for their customers, their employees, communities, and the
environment.
"We're excited to be approved and recognized as a company making a
difference!" said Van Inwegen.
Carbonfund.org is a non-profit organization whose goal is to make carbon
offsets and climate protection easy, affordable and a normal way of life
for every individual and business. Carbon offsets enable individuals and
businesses to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to offset the emissions they
are responsible for in their normal activities, like home, office, driving
or air travel emissions. For instance, a clean, zero CO2 wind farm can
offset the carbon dioxide produced by a coal-fired power plant. By
supporting renewable energy, energy efficiency, and reforestation projects
Carbonfund.org will retire an equivalent amount of carbon offsets. The
financial support from these offsets will then help to continue the
development of clean, renewable domestic sources of energy.
