Premiere Eco-Lifestyle Event, EcoNouveau, Kicks Off LA Fashion Week
October 13 debut event to showcase and celebrate top eco-conscious designers, musicians and artists in Downtown Los Angeles
(CSRwire) LOS ANGELES, CA - October 2, 2007 - EcoNouveau, a co-production spearheaded
by Rob Ganger of Pollinator Media Group and Sarah Shewey of Pink Cloud
Events, will feature the Spring/Summer '08 collection of the most
innovative eco-fashion designers in a non-traditional runway show crafted
for an audience of 1,500 international press, buyers and eco-conscious
celebrities and influencers. The event premieres on October 13th at
restored cathedral Vibiana in Downtown Los Angeles. Alternative art and
production company BOXeight is the official host of EcoNouveau.
Londoner Gary Harvey, New Yorker Bahar Shahpar, and LA local Amanda Shi
(Avita) will feature innovative uses of organic and recycled materials and
processes in their upcoming collections. The evening's music will be
curated by Dublab with musical guests Mia Doi Todd, DJ Nobody, DJ Frosty,
Daedalus, Carlos, Gaby and Andres. Attendees will experience artwork by
award-winning photographer Sebastian Copeland, Seattle-based photographic
artist Chris Jordan, Los Angeles underground legend Geza X, Los
Angeles-based outdoor photographer Ian Shive, Brazilian graffiti artist
and photographer Alexandre Orion and fashion photographer Erik Lang.
"The apparel industry significantly impacts all our lives - for example,
conventionally grown cotton uses more insecticides than any other single
crop. Organic cotton appears to be only part of the solution while other
fibers like bamboo and hemp have their own production impacts. It's quite
a learning curve" said Rob Ganger, founder of newly formed Pollinator Media
Group and Executive producer of EcoNouveau. "Whether we collectively call
it 'sustainable', 'green' or 'eco' fashion, it is very important for
designers to utilize recycled, repurposed, and organic materials wherever
possible in their entire product lines and for we who purchase the apparel
to become more educated on the impact of our choices"
"EcoNouveau aims to promote concepts like 'cradle to cradle' and
'biomimicry' to industry and consumers, and to showcase the modern 'green'
life as stylish, accessible and intelligent," continued Sarah Shewey,
founder of Pink Cloud Events and co-producer of EcoNouveau.
