Alcan and the Club de Hockey Canadien Team up and Score $115,000 for the Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation

Canadien held a special event yesterday, raising $115,000 for the Montreal
Canadiens Children's Foundation. Dick Evans, President and CEO, Alcan
Inc., and Pierre Boivin, President, Club de Hockey Canadien and Bell
Centre presided over the event.
"Alcan is honoured to have teamed up with the Montreal Canadiens to
benefit their Children's Foundation," said Dick Evans. "Both our
organizations share a commitment to our home town and are dedicated to
ensuring the well-being of its most precious asset: its children," he
added.
"The Club de Hockey Canadien is proud to have Alcan, a long-time and
distinguished member of the Montreal community, on our team to help bring
hope to the Province of Quebec's disadvantaged and sick children.
This special fundraising event highlights the importance and effectiveness
of teamwork in improving the lives of children in need," said Pierre
Boivin.
Yesterday's event was held at the Company's global headquarters in the
historic Salvation Army Citadel. Highlights of the evening included a
silent and live auction and a special performance by the Arvida Research
and Development Choir, a group composed of Alcan employees and retirees
from the Company's facilities around the Province of Quebec.
Alcan has been an integral contributor to Montreal's social fabric and
well-being since it established its headquarters in the city's downtown
core more than 80 years ago. The Company supports more than 200 local
Montreal organizations, most recently highlighted through its continuing
sponsorship of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal and its
support of the CHU Sainte-Justine hospital's year-long centennial
celebration.
Since its inception on August 31, 2000, the Montreal Canadiens Children's
Foundation has donated over $6 million to charitable endeavours,
financially supporting close to 200 not-for-profit organizations from all
across the province of Quebec, helping countless underprivileged, sick and
special needs children. It aims to promote the development of and access to
programs, resources, materials, equipment, and places intended for
children. It does this through the charitable assignment of funding to
not-for-profit groups dedicated to fighting poverty, improving well-being
or promoting sport among the less fortunate.
