(CSRwire) NEW YORK - September 6, 2007 - Alcoa (NYSE:AA) announced today that it has been selected as a component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes for the sixth consecutive year. Selection is based on an analysis of a company's economic, environmental and social performance.

Begun in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes track the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide.

Alcoa's 2006 Corporate Sustainability Report highlights Alcoa's progress in sustainability and features engagement in our communities as a key to performance. An example: As a founding member of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership, Alcoa joined with twelve other companies and nongovernmental organizations to call on the U.S. government to enact legislation that would establish a cap and trade program to reduce carbon emissions that contribute to Global Climate Change.
