Muscular Dystrophy Association Partners with cMarket to take Annual Labor Day Auctions Online to Broaden Awareness and Increase Fundraising Power.
(CSRwire) CAMBRIDGE, MA - August 30, 2007 - In an effort to attract more interest
from a younger demographic and field more fundraising power from them, the
Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is going where the young people are:
online. This year, select MDA offices from around the country are using
cMarket -- the leading, online auction platform solely for organizations
engaged in fundraising for non-profit causes --to power their online
fundraising auctions. The online component will augment this year’s
headline fundraiser, the annual Jerry Lewis Telethon airing for a 42nd
year on September 2nd.
"There has been a significant shift in the demographic of givers in the
last few years," says MDA VP of Marketing, David Eppihimer. "Today, more
and more young people are making donations and contributing to fundraising
efforts, and in recognition of that, we have broadened our outreach to
target where these contributors spend a great deal of their time and
attention, and that’s online."
In all, six regional MDA online auctions in Knoxville, Phoenix, Houston,
Michigan, Denver and Dallas will open up on BiddingForGood.com (www.biddingforgood.com)
– cMarket's online portal for non-profit organizations hosting auctions
on August 20th - September 7th. Each region has fun and meaningful items
for interested bidders to offer on including a Limo Ride in Fort Collins,
TX; three nights at the Curtis Hotel in Denver, CO; an 1890's Cut Crystal
Back Bar Bottle in Payson, Arizona; a Laser Hair Therapy package in
Phoenix, AZ and, most significantly, bidders can buy One Minute of
Research or Assist with the Purchase of a Wheelchair, Leg Braces or a
Communication Device for a child with MDA. In addition, they are promoting
a National site for their internationally headlining fundraiser: the annual
Jerry Lewis Telethon, now in its 42nd year airing on September 2nd.
"We are thrilled to partner with such a meaningful and longstanding
organization as MDA which over several decades has set a national standard
for fundraising innovation," says cMarket CEO Jon Carson. "We look forward
to helping them increase awareness of their organization's efforts to
raise funds to support vital research and services for children and adults
with neuromuscular diseases."

MDA is a volunteer health agency working to defeat more than 40
