Aspen Institute Celebrates 50,000th Download from Research Library on Business' Role in Society
(CSRwire) NEW YORK, NY - August 28, 2007 - This month, The Aspen Institute's
Business and Society Program is pleased to announce that over 50,000
academic documents have been downloaded from its new Social and
Environmental Impact Network (SEIN) on the Social Science Research Network
(SSRN). SEIN is an "open access" library of academic research, class
notes, sample exams, etc., dedicated to the social and environmental
impacts of business. Anyone can upload any relevant document at any time.
SEIN is hosted by the leading online library of academic research, SSRN,
which receives approximately five million hits monthly on its website.
SEIN may be accessed at http://www.ssrn.com/sein/index.html.
The research library offers 1,600+ papers on a wide variety of social and
environmental business issues. New titles from the past week include:
Impact of Social Labeling on Child Labor in the Indian Carpet
Industry
Coral Reefs, Fishing, and Tourism: Tensions in U.S. Ocean Law and
Policy Reform
Economic Inequality and Social Differentials in Mortality
The Aspen Institute's Network Partners for SEIN include Ashoka, Business
for Social Responsibility, Net Impact, and the Research Network for
Sustainable Business. Faculty Advisors for this project include Paul
Bloom (Duke), Marc Epstein (Rice), Tim Fort (George Washington), Geoff
Heal (Columbia), Andy Hoffman (Michigan), Andy King (Dartmouth), Andrea
Larson (UVA), and Todd Sayre (San Francisco).
In addition to this resource, The Aspen Institute also runs CasePlace.org, a popular
website for business school faculty that offers free inspection copies of
case studies and other teaching materials related to social,
environmental, and ethical issues.
The mission of the Aspen Institute is to foster enlightened leadership and
open-minded dialogue. Aspen Institute events have attracted presidents,
statesmen, diplomats, judges, ambassadors, and Nobel laureates over the
years, enriching and enlivening the Institute as a global forum for
leaders. The Institute's Business and Society Program (Aspen BSP), an
independently managed and funded initiative, was created to ensure that
future business leaders are better prepared to manage the ethical, social,
and environmental complexities of modern business.
To keep abreast of Aspen BSP's innovative teaching resources, join our
email list by signing up for the CasePlace.org newsletter on the site’s
