(CSRwire) August 14, 2007- Zytek Systems have placed a development order for a fully integrated 44kWh Lithium-Ion battery system with Amberjac Projects Ltd for a 7.5 tonne plug in hybrid commercial vehicle as part of an EST funded development programme, the system is intended to be production capable with a short lead time for production ramp up.

Until recently large format automotive battery solutions have relied on Sodium Nickel Chloride (NaNiCl) batteries as the only practical solution, despite their not insignificant short comings. Amberjac Projects have demonstrated an alternative technology can effectively compete on life costs and perform much more effectively than Sodium Nickel Chloride for large format applications providing multiple system user benefits and are actively targeting the growing commercial alternative fuelled vehicle sector.

Amberjac Projects were chosen as the supplier of the battery system from their extensive experience in creating battery systems for vehicular applications using Lithium Iron Phosphate technology.

Within the next few weeks Amberjac Projects are expected to take over larger premises to scale up production facilities and increase capacity to meet client demand and to facilitate an increase in the supply of plug in hybrid conversions for the Toyota Prius, with an additional 10 Prius conversions to be implemented in the next 4 months, totalling 17 Amberjac converted vehicles in the hands of end users.
