British Energy's fourth full Corporate Social Responsibility Report
focuses on the theme of partnership and the important role this plays

The Report is based on the Business in the Community guidelines,
highlighting performance in the key areas of the marketplace, workplace,
environment and community. There is a focus on customers, on the

environmental well-being, and on the relationship between employees and
their local communities. There is an opportunity to review the Company's
performance through an extended set of indicators that covers its
operations. This year British Energy has sought independent verification
of their performance indicators.

of electricity and has the lowest carbon emissions of the major UK
electricity generators. The Company own and operate eight nuclear power
