$95,000 in Baseball Bats Donated to USA Care's - "Operation Slugger II"
Leading military focused charity receives support from Pennsylvania Baseball Bat manufacturer
(CSRwire) TROY, PA - July 31, 2007 - In 2005, USA Cares, a world-wide military
charitable organization serving military service members and their
families sent 13.5 tons of new and used sporting equipment collected from
around the nation to our men and women in uniform overseas. In 2007, they
are hoping for 20 tons, and Gone Batty Bats, a baseball bat manufacturer
from Troy, Pennsylvania will help them along the way to meet the goal!
Honoring a family member to be deployed early next year, Walter Ambrosch,
owner of Gone Batty Bats has been providing bats for the USA Military All
Stars Baseball Team, and heard about USA Cares from them. Walter decided
his contribution would be 2400 baseball bats with the USA Cares "Operation
SluggerII" logo imprinted on each bat.
"We are continually amazed at the compassion and desire to help the troops
from across America, Mr. Ambrosch is a shining example of "stepping up to
the plate" for them," remarked MG (Ret) John Tindall, President of USA
Cares.
USA Cares and the military all starts have been working together to
collect new and used sporting equipment all summer. Fire departments in
several locations across the country have joined the team to serve as
local collection points. They will then ship the collected equipment to
members of the Chicago Fire Department who have volunteered to sort and
ship the goal of 600 kits of equipment in August 2007.
If you have new or gently used sporting equipment to donate, or wish to
