ReportAlert.info - RWE npower Publishes Corporate Responsibility Report 2007
(CSRwire) July 24, 2007- Moving to a low carbon economy whilst maintaining affordable
and secure sources of energy represents the biggest challenge that the
energy industry has faced. RWE npower is committed to developing
strategies to ensure that it is able to play a leading role in minimising
CO2 emissions in the future. If the UK Government's policy objectives are
to be met the UK needs to build substantial amounts of new low carbon
generating capacity and take advantage of every possible initiative to
save energy and to use it as efficiently as possible.
RWE npower's fourth full CR report describes how these critical social and
environmental challenges are being met, how the company performed against
CR targets in 2006 and outlines plans for 2007 and beyond. The report is
available online via http://www.reportalert.info/ra/Npower240707.htm.
The report includes a review of three issues identified as having a high
degree of materiality for the company and a description of the actions the
company is taking to address them. They are: the transition to a low carbon
economy, relationships with customers and contribution to society.
RWE npower is a division of RWE AG. It is one of the UK's largest energy
supply companies with more than 6.5million customers from the domestic and
business sectors and a generating capacity of more than 10,000 MW. In 2007
RWE npower was awarded the highest performance rating of Platinum in the
Business in the Community CR Index.
