Mission Research Offers Five Expert Tips for Igniting Nonprofit Fundraising Programs
GiftWorks Fundraising Software Developer to Exhibit during AFP Fund Raiser Day in NYC
(CSRwire) LANCASTER, PA- June 14, 2007 - Mission Research, developer of the GiftWorks
affordable donor management and fundraising software for nonprofits, today
is offering advice and guidance to the nation's nearly 2 million
nonprofits to help improve the way they develop and launch donor giving
campaigns. The company is also exhibiting its fundraising software for
nonprofits during the Fund Raising Day 2007 event in New York City at the
Marriott Marquis. Fund Raising Day, organized by the Association of
Fundraising Professionals, is America's largest one-day conference on
philanthropy. The event is a clearinghouse of ideas and products designed
to advance philanthropy through education, training and advocacy.
Russ Burke, head of customer education for Mission Research, offers these
Five Tips to Ignite Nonprofit Fundraising Programs:
1. Do your homework. Recognize that fundraising is an art and a science
and learn as much as possible about good fundraising practices. By doing
your homework and following basic fundraising principles, you can ensure
success in your donor programs.
2. Use technology, but don't lose touch. Donors are open to nonprofits
using technology to solicit them, such as online giving. Fundraising
software such as Mission Research's GiftWorks (http://www.missionresearch.com/giftworks)
helps make it easier to manage small nonprofit fundraising and donor
outreach. But donors still expect to be acknowledged and cared for just
like the old days.
3. Keep your program transparent. We live in a full-disclosure world and
donors expect transparency from the nonprofit organizations they support.
Since they may not always know what they are looking for in your
information, it's best to be proactive and tell them - before they become
surprised about an operational item in your annual report!
4. Listen, listen, did we mention listen? Sure, you've got plenty to tell
your donors; but remember that they've got plenty to tell you as well.
It's always more important, and more profitable, to listen to what your
donors have to say - and the passion with which they say it.
5. Become a partner in change. Creating and sustaining change in the world
is the thing that motivates donors most. Nonprofits that become recognized
as trusted partners in developing and implementing change will best be
able to attract and motivate major donors.
"Mission Research is pleased to provide tools and guidance to nonprofits
to help them manage donor outreach and volunteer programs," said Charlie
Crystle, Mission Research CEO. "Mission Research designs fundraising
software for nonprofits to help them be more effective tracking and
contacting donors, enabling them to focus their efforts on helping their
communities."
