Carbon Footprint Consumer Products Summit
September 13/14, Marriot Chicago Midway
(CSRwire) June 12, 2007- American Business Conferences is pleased to announce the
groundbreaking Carbon Footprint Consumer Products Summit, taking
place September 13 - 14 at the Marriott Chicago Midway. This Summit is
the first of its kind in the US to look at carbon footprinting within
consumer products across the supply chain.
Carbon footprint reductions can be achieved by more efficient use of
energy within internal business operations; measuring carbon levels and
setting reduction targets across the supply chain to find the specific
leverage points with the maximum impact; or offsetting your carbon
emissions by achieving absolute reductions.
There is currently no regulation in the US for carbon management strategy.
However, if the EPA decide to regulate (as rumored), companies could stand
to lose billions of dollars by not planning ahead for this change in
legislation. Leading retail product manufacturers from North America (if
not the world!) are already engaged in this highly topical event and are
prepared to adopt carbon management strategy at this time of significant
business change – and in turn, provide their shareholders with
transparency on this issue.
The Carbon Footprint Consumer Products Summit brings together over 200
senior representatives from the major retailers, and brand / product
manufacturers including Starbucks, Nike, Nestle and
Aveda, key IT companies such as Intel, Sun and
Cisco, and main freight carriers including UPS and
DHL. All are actively looking for the tools and advice to move
forward on and formulate real carbon strategies in the background of
upcoming US regulation. This summit will enable businesses to plan now to
mitigate future climate change legislation and benefit from implementing
successful and timely carbon footprint management strategies.
Sponsor of the event is EPA SmartWay and Partners include
BSR, Chicago Sustainable Business Alliance, and Green
Blue. Lead Media Partner is CSRwire and Media Partner is
Inbound Logistics.
This dedicated summit will decipher what the appropriate, low-energy
efficient metrics are to measure, in order to gain correct and accurate
carbon data. The management responsible for Sustainability, CSR,
Environment & Energy, Climate Change, Technical & Quality Assurance, Risk
Management, Supply Chain, and Logistics & Distribution will be
there for you to network with and share solutions on what is an incredibly
hot topic with increasingly important risks and opportunities for
competitive advantage.
