Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport (AZO) Demonstrates Environmental Leadership Through the National Adopt-A-Watt(TM) Program (NAAWP)
Program pays for new solar electricity and (B20) biodiesel fuel as airport advances to 21st century energy …
(CSRwire) KALAMAZOO, MI - June 12, 2007- The National Adopt-A-Watt(TM) Program is
pleased to announce the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport
Aeronautics Board approval of it's clean energy and alternative fuel
funding program.
"Everyone today understands the importance of exploring energy
alternatives," stated AZO Airport Director, Clifton Moshoginis "We believe
the National Adopt-A-Watt(TM) Program can facilitate our transition to
these new alternatives and simultaneously reduce the airport's operating
costs... a real plus financially for the Airport".
"Director Moshoginis and the Aeronautics Board are to be commended for
their foresight and vision", stated Thomas A. Wither, founder and
principal of the National Adopt-A-Watt(TM) Program "Their decision will
have a far reaching positive impact on travelers as well as the community
and visibly demonstrate the airports commitment to clean air and
protecting the environment".
Sponsoring opportunities are now available at AZO. "NAAWP sponsorship
offers a high-profile opportunity to show support for clean energy and
reducing America's dependence on foreign oil...to over one million
yearly airport visitors," Wither says. He further states, "Sponsorship
puts a spotlight on corporate citizenship programs and demonstrably
reinforces organizations de-carbonization campaigns...action speaks
louder then words".
About NAAWP-- Modeled after the successful Adopt-a-Highway
acknowledgment program, the patent pending, NAAWP gives sponsors community
recognition for funding clean energy, alternative fuel and energy
efficiency projects. The program arranges and coordinates all sponsorship,
financing, installation and on-going maintenance for Sponsor-able
Photo-Voltaic Displays (SPVDs). A SPVD is a complete (1) kW solar electric
system that uniquely generates both clean energy and a new source of
revenue that is used to fund other energy saving equipment or alternative
fuel infrastructure.
Sponsorship of SPVDs is arranged via a virtual auction process at the
National Adopt-A-Watt(TM) Web site, www.adopt-a-watt.com. This permits
global participation and matches sponsor needs with locations at rest
areas, travel plazas, bridges, tunnels, airports, sports/entertain
complexes, schools, hospitals, national/state parks, rail/bus stops, etc.
NAAWP sponsorship presents an exciting new venue for corporations to use a
portion of their marketing budgets to get their name in front of the
public, and at the same time improve the environment and the economies of
the communities they serve...generating critical brand awareness and
demonstrating 21st century Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, the Ethanol Promotion and
Information Council and the National Biodiesel Board endorse the NAAWP.
Additionally, the NAAWP has the support of (41) Clean City coalitions in
(21) states.
