Deloitte Starts IMPACT Day 2007

Thousand professionals work for more than 30 charities

(CSRwire) ROTTERDAM- June 11, 2007 – Audit firm Deloitte wishes to make a positive contribution to society. Each year the firm organizes IMPACT Day in a large number of countries: a worldwide tradition of Deloitte staff supporting social organizations. The Dutch member firm this year dedicates two full weeks to this theme, from May 26 though June 9.

On June 6, the Deloitte offices in the northern region of the Netherlands will be closed. All staff will show their social commitment and dedicate the day to culture, nature and/or care.

In the province of Limburg, about 100 Deloitte staff took the initiative to invite some 200 patients from care homes in the Parkstad Limburg region to visit the GaiaPark Kerkrade Zoo, the Wereldtuinen Mondo Verde park or the Zuid-Limburgse Stoomtrein Maatschappij and the Industrion museum on May 30. This event is organized in cooperation with the Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij Parkstad and several tourist attractions.

Our consultants will provide management consulting and training to IMC Weekendschool. IMC Weekendschool provides additional education to highly motivated young people from socially and economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.

On June 6, MVO Nederland, the national organization that aims to inspire corporate social responsibility in Dutch entrepreneurs, will organize its annual event for the Dutch business community. Deloitte is one of the main sponsors of this event and will also supply manpower.

Several Deloitte staff are looking for computer donors for Close the Gap, an organization that aims to close the digital gap between developed and developing countries.

Deloitte supports the Stichting Ondernemersklankbord, a national foundation of businessmen, managers and experts who support and coach newcomers or financially-troubled entrepreneurs in SME or agriculture.

Elementary school Basisschool Charlois is an international public elementary school in the Rotterdam borough of Charlois. The school has a multicultural character and represents many nationalities. Several Deloitte professionals will advise the school free of charge about issues such as image, profiling and quality.

Other professionals have organized happenings such as a shoe polishing event or participating in a Canal Regatta to collect money for various charities.

With IMPACT Day Deloitte not only contributes to society, but also invests in its own people. During IMPACT Day, Deloitte staff can work on team building and develop their leadership skills. Besides this, many professionals contribute their professional knowledge and expertise free of charge.
