"In this report, we wanted to communicate the ways in which sustainable
development has helped our organization achieve greater performance," says
Jenniffer Deckard, Chief Financial Officer. For Fairmount Minerals, one of
the nation’s largest producers of industrial sand, sustainable
development has been a coalescing force. With twelve Sustainable
Development Initiative Teams focused on various aspects of sustainability
– Environmental Products and Processes, Social Responsibility, and
Health and Wellness, to name a few – the company has relied on dedicated
employees (the Fairmount Minerals family members) to initiate and drive
sustainable projects.
According to CEO Charles D. Fowler, "Growing awareness of environmental
challenges and unmet social needs in the global community will continue to
influence the business landscape. Fairmount Minerals sees opportunity in
sustainable development that will allow us to innovate and ensure our
long-term viability."
Key achievements detailed in the 2006 report include:
Successful use of recycled waste oil to power machinery at a mining
facility.
Receiving the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Civic Leadership
Center’s Corporate Citizenship Award in Corporate Stewardship.

philanthropic activities.
