Mayor Hickenlooper Celebrates Denver's Second Green Roof Building

UMB Bank at Stapleton Features a Green Roof and Environmentally Friendly Building Materials

(CSRwire) DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 27, 2007--UMB Bank Colorado, n.a., a chartered bank of UMB Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: UMBF), and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper today are dedicating Denver's second building overall and the first retail/consumer facility to incorporate a grass roof into the structural design. The banking center is located at 3515 Quebec Street in Quebec Square at Stapleton. UMB Bank Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Mariner Kemper, Mayor Hickenlooper and other city executives will dedicate the building by planting the Colorado state tree at the construction site today at 10:00 a.m. This is the seventh UMB Bank location throughout the Denver metropolitan area.

"We are very excited to be on the forefront of the 'green' building revolution in Denver," said Mariner Kemper, CEO and Chairman of UMB Bank. "Mayor Hickenlooper has a very ambitious plan for turning Denver into an energy-conscience, environmentally friendly city. He can count on the support from UMB Bank and all our employees at the green banking center at Stapleton to help make his vision a reality."

The roof is covered with drought-resistant plants that are native to Colorado. The green roof is designed to reduce urban heat effect from reflection and decrease the amount of rainwater runoff which can pick up the dirt, oil and chemicals that lead to water pollution.

The interior of the banking center is as environmentally friendly and energy conscience as the exterior. High-performance glass windows allow natural light to flood the room while simultaneously protecting the space from unwanted heat gain. Each room has sensors that shut off light fixtures when space is not in use and all sink and bathroom fixtures are low-flow and equipped with sensors for automatic turn off and shut down. The carpet is made from 100% recycled materials and the paints, ceiling treatments and wall coverings are made of environmentally stable materials that do not "off gas" potentially harmful chemicals into the atmosphere.

UMB Financial Corporation is a multi-bank holding company headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., offering complete banking and related financial services to both individual and business customers. Its banking subsidiaries own and operate 138 banking centers throughout Missouri, Illinois, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Arizona.
