(CSRwire) Financial services company Legal & General has published its latest
Corporate Social Responsibility report, which is available via http://www.reportalert.info/ra/LandG200407.htm.
The UK-based group's online document shows that during 2006 it:
Switched to 55% recycled content paper for all marketing literature,
which will save over 10,500 trees each year from being cut down
Broadened the scope of its supply chain management programme to
include social and ethical issues, supported by guidelines for key
suppliers
Delivered 30 per cent more staff training compared with the previous
year
Boosted employee participation in its Give As You Earn scheme to 11.8
per cent – an all-time high
Worked with its trade union, Amicus, to provide collective
representation for 1236 first-level management employees
Used its move to new offices in Hove, Southern England to improve the
working environment for staff and to introduce energy-saving features.
The Report also shows that Legal & General, which has more than 5.7
million customers and around 9,000 employees in the UK, retained its
membership of the FTSE4Good and the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index
and qualified for the Dow Jones Sustainability STOXX Index for the first
time. In 2006 it also took part in Business in the Community's Corporate
Responsibility Index for the first time and achieved a top 100 placing.
