CVS All Kids Can(TM); Honored for Outstanding Support of Children with Disabilities
Program Wins National Corporate Social Responsibility Awards
(CSRwire) WOONSOCKET, RI - April 3, 2007 – CVS All Kids Can™, CVS/pharmacy's
five-year, $25 million signature program that supports children with
disabilities, earned two national awards in the PR News Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) Award Competition. CVS/pharmacy
representatives accepted the awards, one for the Community Affairs
category, the other for Cause Branding, during the recent PR News
award ceremony at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
According to PR News, a national trade publication, its CSR Awards
are the gold standard in corporate citizenship and communications
worldwide and demonstrate goodwill, philanthropy and employee commitment.
The winning campaigns will serve as the best practices for other
professionals in developing CSR programs for their own organizations.
"We are honored to receive national recognition for CVS All Kids Can and
our support of children with disabilities," said Eileen Howard Dunn, Vice
President of Corporate Communications and Community Relations for
CVS/pharmacy. "We worked hard to identify an issue that our customers felt
strongly about and that would also enable us to engage our associates
actively in community service."
Launched in 2005, CVS All Kids Can aims to build barrier-free
playgrounds so children of all abilities can play side-by-side; to raise
awareness in schools and local communities about the importance of
inclusion; and to provide medical rehabilitation and related services to
children with disabilities. The program extends CVS's corporate vision of
helping people to live longer, healthier, happier lives.
CVS/pharmacy and its more than 170,000 employees help children with
disabilities learn, play and succeed through partnerships with leading
local and national nonprofit organizations including Easter Seals, Meeting
Street School, The National Center for Boundless Playgrounds, and many
others.
CVS All Kids Can was also named a 2007 finalist by PR Week
for Cause-Related Campaign of the Year and is a finalist for The
Holmes Report 2007 Sabre Award Gold in the Community Relations
category.
